Quilt Show & Car Show

Sunday afternoon I attended the quilt show & the car show at the Sunflower Festival in Altona.

There were many lovely quilts.

The above picture is only one block of a beautiful quilt that required many, many hours of work.

I like the old classics.

Special Quilt for a Special Lady.

This is my latest finish. A quilt for a special long time friend.

She helped with choosing the 2 main colours & then I added the solid brown & the tone on tone cream colours.

The lighting here shows the colours more in a reddish tone but the colours are more a brownish brick colour.
This was a new pattern that I tried & I was surprised how quickly it came together. Mostly strip piecing. The name of the pattern is "Woven Wonder."

I pieced together some leftover strip pieces that added interest to the backing.
This quilt is a gift to a special friend who celebrated a special birthday & is a faithful friend.

Road Trip to Alberta

We made a short road trip to Alberta. Really enjoyed the blue skies, the bright yellow of the blooming canola fields & especially traveling on a  4 lane highway! On our way to Red Deer, we took the highway through Drumheller. Didn't stop to take many pictures enroute.

A number of us Olfert cousins got together several times & enjoyed connecting again.
3 of us are sisters & we had fun too!!
We enjoyed 3 evenings of Southern Gospel music & were just so very blessed & encouraged by the music.

Enjoyed a short photo shoot at downtown city hall.

 The flowers were so brilliant!

Spent on night in Moose Jaw on the way home & snapped this picture.

Then the day after we got home, the carpenter started a new project.
More pictures to come.

Women Refreshed at the Well

At the urging of my cousin, Lois, who voiced her concern about my mental & physical health due to the Aug. 8th accident, we booked into this beautiful retreat centre that caters especially to women.
I stayed in the Autumn room.

Lois was in the Winter room. The furnishings & decor have been carefully chosen & compliment each season.

This is a view of the living room. There are several nooks & sitting areas to read, rest & relax.

 On a bathroom floor.

There are several paintings similar to this one on display from an artist.
(Sorry, I forget the name.)

A picture from the outside. Gardens & walkways are being developed behind the house.

There are many pots of flowers on the  wrap-around veranda.

 Love the red front door!

A Visit to Pine Ridge Hollow

My traveling buddy & I spent a couple of day together this past week & began with a visit to Pine Ridge Hollow, north east of Winnipeg.  First we enjoyed lunch & it was delicious.

 Flowers were in full bloom.

Loved the chickens & the miniature goats.

We also spent some time browsing in the gift shop.

After coffee & dessert, we left for our next designation.
More on the next blog.
