Where is Spring?

I'm waiting for spring as are millions in Canada & in the US. The snow is gone, the robins are here & the evenings are getting longer. It seems every week the forecast says that warmer weather will be here at the end of next week. I try hard not to complain about the weather, can't do anything to change it anyway. But I'm waiting & looking for signs of spring, however small.

Took a walk in the woods yesterday. Small sprigs of green grass are starting to slowly make their way though the leaf covered forest floor.

Lexie kept me company during my search for signs of spring. Today it was raining most of the day with more rain in the forecast. On a more positive note - with rainy days ahead, I'll be spending some more time in my sewing room building up my inventory of baby quilts.

Have enjoyed the bright spot of flowers that I received for Easter.
Spring will come. It is promised.

The Grey & White Chevron Quilt

I had a special request from a friend for this Chevron pattern quilt.

So I searched on the internet & found some fairly easy directions. I started off with
2 - 10 inch  squares, 1 of each colour & sewed a 1/4" seam around the outside & then cut corner to corner into 4 pieces. Then lots of sewing & pressing & making sure the pattern was working out the correct way.

I used Soft & Bright batting & a "minky" backing.

I quilted it with white thread 1/4 inch on both sides of the seam lines & finished the quilt with a grey binding. It was delivered to my friend in Saskatchewan this weekend & she is very pleased with it.

Beige & White

Had a special request from a friend for a beige & white lap quilt. The colours shown in the above picture are somewhat off & the quilt has a yellow tone here.

The colours are very soft & delicate & yet quite striking.

My friend is giving it away to a special friend & was quite pleased with it. I usually work with more dramatic colours so it was a pleasant change to work with softer colours.
