Lois & Lillian's Most Wonderful Adventure

Ten highlights of our trip to Ontario July 4 - 19, 2010. These are listed in a random order & may include embellishments!

1. The nice man at the Emerson border who asked where we were going & Lois answered "To Ontario via the US route.: He then asked what our purpose was in Ontario & Lois answered "To visit elderly relatives." His next question was " Do you ladies have a GPS?"

2.Lois refreshed her knowledge of the Low German Language when I shared my extensive repertoire of the language.

3. A statement each of us made several times - " Stop making me laugh! I'm driving & there isn't a rest stop for miles!"

4. Lois to Samantha - the GPS - " What do you mean by turn left, turn right, turn left, recalculating. Oh, be quiet!!"

5. We each have addictions that begged attention.
Lois - J.C. Penny's, Best Buy, Bath & Body
Me - Starbucks, Quilt Shops, Bath & Body

6. 60 something year olds can get away with many things including looking weak & feeble close to hotel stairs so when some helpful man comes along, he has no choice but to offer to to carry our suitcases.

7. When it came to dragging our baggage in & out of hotels, we acknowledged that we missed our "schleppers" Fortunately, we had to leave our husbands at home to work to pay for our trip!
8. Diana's Garden & Helen's garden.

9. Mel's tour bus stopping in a "No Stopping" zone while we jumped out & ran - as fast as 2 60 something year olds can run, both with bad knees - so that we could quickly snap a few pictures of Niagara Falls.
10. The purpose & absolute highlight was connecting with aunts, uncles, cousins & extended family, many that we had not seen or had contact with for many years. We both came home with a renewed sense of family & to strengthen our contacts & to search for cousins we haven't heard from for a long time.

Hi Lillian,

I think I know your friend Lois. She was my next door neighbor in residence in nurses training!... Such a small world!
