Parkview Gardens on Grandeur

The flower gardens on Grandeur St. are so brilliant now. They certainly have loved all the rain.

The Horticultural Society have made great choices in combining colours & varieties.

So if you do happen to visit the city of Winkler this summer, be sure the visit the Parkview Gardens.

Trip Part 4

 Backguard Falls

This is the river that Albert had his rafting trip on & they portaged around the falls.
The day we left for home.
I was just fine with standing on the ground!!

Another mountain stream we stopped to snap a few pictures.

 Athabasca Falls

These falls were just so powerful & amazing.
This was on way to Lake Louise. Note the reflection of the mountain on the lake!

It was such a prefect summer's day with a few puffy clouds, warm sunshine & with no wind, the lake looked like glass.

And then a mother duck with her ducklings in tow appeared.

And a day later, we were happy to see this!

Trip Part 3

A few more shots of some of the lush, green flora in the Ancient Forest.
 Mountain stream.
This is close to MacBride, a farming community along the No. 16 Highway.

Loved this collapsed shed with the green trees & the blue tinge of the mountains in the background.

At this river, with Mt. Robson in the background, is where Albert started his white water rafting adventure.
Albert is in the front, on your right.

 White water ahead!
 Keep rowing!
Nobody fell out. I was NOT on this raft! I went to the Mt. Robson Visitor Centre to check my email & then came back to the departure site to wait for the rafters to return. I can't take credit for the rafting pictures. We purchased them from the rafting company.
This welcome sign & flower filled boots was at the beginning point of the rafting trip at a campground.
While I was waiting for Albert to return, this bagpiper was serenading whoever would listen.
Saw lots of humming birds in the mountains. First time I have seen 5 at a time at a feeder.
This picture is also from the same campground. Mt. Robson in the back.

Trip - Part 2

In a little town called Valemount, I found a very cute quilt shop!

I bought a kit to make this colourful "Welcome" sign.

Also bought a kit to make the ice cream cone with the "Dream" wall hanging.
I think I'll make one for each of my granddaughters!

We explored a well traveled gravel road that went into a valley & found this herd of cattle.
Also found a busy sawmill.
Then I found this handsome fellow sitting beside a mountain stream!

The deck of our cabin where we enjoyed the evenings.
Another view from the porch.

This is the sign at the entrance to the cabins.
We visited an "Ancient Forest" about 1 1/2 hours from our cabin.
The biggest tree was 16 feet in diameter. I did the easy hike on the boardwalk while Albert did the difficult hike to where the biggest trees were.

Our Trip to the Mountains Part 1

Leaving Red Deer, we drove west on Hwy.11 to the 93 & then north to Jasper.
Saw many wild flowers along the way.

We stopped at many of the pull-outs to enjoy the view & take pictures.

This is at the Columbia Icefields.
