And So the Christmas Season Begins

Tonight our church held it's annual Christmas Banquet. Several hundred people attended & the turkey dinner with all the trimmings was catered by a group of ladies from the church. Each table has table hosts who decorate & host & serve the guests. The above 2 pictures are of the table that I decorated & hosted with hubby's help.
We can use the church's dishes or bring our own. Each table is unique & so beautifully set up.

The meal was very delicious & the program consisted of some carol singing, improv comedy by the Blackeyed Rascals, & reflections on the Christmas Story. It was a wonderful evening shared with friends & a great way to the beginning of the Christmas Season.

Four Eagles on a Field.

This morning while on our way to Portage to visit my mom, we saw 4 large birds in a field close to the highway. They sure looked  like Bald Eagles & there were also two large female birds in the field too. We think they are migrating south & stopped to eat. There was a dead deer in the ditch.
I really would have liked a close-up picture but I just couldn't get closer so I was just happy to get this shot & also grateful for the opportunity to see these magnificent birds.

Visiting Mom

Today my cousin, Lois & myself spent the afternoon visiting with my mom. Lois brought her electronic harpsichord & sang some beautiful & encouraging hymns for mom.

Mom is working through the difficult process of giving up her home & possessions & settling into the care home environment so it was good to share a few laughs & a cup of coffee & cookies. In the white bag on the table beside Mom, is her crochet yarn that she brought in case she got bored, but she didn't reach for it at all. Guess we kept her pretty much entertained!
