My June Garden - Part ll

On the left, spinach vine with potato vine in front & on the right a red mandevilla.

Impatients & a lime  potato vine.

Yellow Million Bells & allisium & the new Black Petunia.

These flowers have not grown as much as I had hoped, maybe too much rain & not enough heat units. My plan is that this plot would be completely covered in blooms. The weather is warmer now so now things will really grow.

The grapes got off to a slow start & now are really growing.

My hosta garden with penguins cooling themselves in the shade.

Coral Bells & Pansies.

Roses are starting to bloom.

A new rose I bought this spring.
Thanks for visiting. I'll post more pictures later in the season.

My June Garden - Part 1

Blooming Goatsbeard

This planter sits by my front door & adds a cheery welcome.

Johnny Jump-ups bloom brightly in many places.

Mr. Pig peeking out from between the Hostas.

Every year I add fresh Hen & Chicks & Sedum to this basket & it adds a bright spot here.

Farewell to the "56.

This blog is not about quilting, gardening, traveling or cooking. It is about a car. A 1956 Pontiac that my husband has owned since 1999 & has restored thoughout the years.
The dashboard is original complete with the black & white dice.
I helped with the recovering of the seats & door panels.
Albert had the car repainted after much time spent doing the body work.
Our grandkids loved going for ice-cream in "Papa's Old Car."
Albert sold the car & it's going to it's new home tomorrow evening.
We are both sad to see it go as Albert has had it since 1999 so the old car is part of our family but like he says he learned alot when he was restoring it & now wants to do another one. And so now the search begins for another treasure. Albert has several makes & models in mind & also a friend who knows where to look in back yards & pastures. Farewell, 1956 Pontiac, we had alot of fun riding in you, giving rides to family & friends & attracting alot of attention along the way.

Our kids from Wpg. came out & we all spent the afternoon at the speedway west of Morden.

And dust was swirling.

If it's too Cold to Garden.....

When we came home at the end of March from our MDS assignment in Tennessee, it was still winter here in Manitoba & the came the cool spring weather and we're still waiting for warmer weather. So I sat down at my sewing machine & have hardly left it! I sewed 10 baby quilts & 8 baby quilt tops which I can quickly complete as needed. And no, we aren't expecting any more grandbabies, sad to say. These quilts are for all for charity with most of them going to the church we attend to be given as Welcome Baby gifts.

Some are made with a layer of batting & flannelette backing & on some I put just one layer of fleece. Now I'll wash them all & they'll be ready to warm & comfort a new baby.

A Fun Weekend

We went camping this weekend to St. Malo Provincial Park which is just over an hours drive east from us. Allen, Lena & boys joined us on Saturday afternoon & we enjoyed a wiener roast for supper. The park was extremely wet with standing water everywhere so we were glad we went this weekend as next weekend the mosquitoes will be terrible.

Brandon demonstrating how to drink pop from the side of the can.
Yellow Lady Slippers were growing right beside our campsite.

Sunday morning we packed up right after a late breakfast & got home around 1 PM & then set out for Morden Speedway which is a few miles west of Morden. Our son, Chris, races a Sprint car & he won the heat & also the feature race. We enjoy watching the races, even though I'm on the edge of my seat & praying hard the whole time Chris is on the track.
Winner!
Later in the evening, we drove out to check on the house that Albert is building. It was a great weekend!

My Backyard

My backyard as seen from my deck.

This Silver Maple tree  has done very well & provides a nice shady spot.

A "pee pot" filled with sweet johnny jump ups.

Colourful blooming crab provide various shades of colour despite the rain & strong, forceful winds yesterday.
